A Guide for Trustees has been prepared by Charities Branch in the Voluntary & Community Unit of the Department for Social Development. It gives guidance about setting up and running a charity in Northern Ireland. In particular, it explains what a charity is, the advantages and responsibilities of running one, and the legal framework within which it operates.
