There are many factors which may limit the effectiveness of your management committee. Below we have identified a list of common factors. Each of these is linked to the next section which makes suggestions for tools and approaches to each of the factors. Voluntary and community organisations are diverse. You need to judge which of these tools or approaches will be appropriate and effective for your organisation.
Remember that there are support organisations whose purpose is to support you. Regional organisations include NICVA, VDA, RCN and Community Change. There is a range of networks across the region including community support agencies, rural support networks and volunteer bureaux. There are also thematic regional organisations which provide support to their member groups.
