Understanding and fulfilling its legal duties

An overview of the legal environment for voluntary and community organisations.

Members of the Management Committee of a voluntary organisation are equally responsible in law for the actions and decisions of the committee.  They are responsible for ensuring that the organisation complies with the law in all aspects of its work from finance and employment law to service delivery aspects such as insurance, data protection, food hygiene and/or safeguarding.  There is a wide range of information on the DIY Committee Guide website in relation to the different aspects of legal responsibility.  Please see below a few of the common issues and you can use the search facility for more detailed information on a particular aspect of the law.
