Vision and Leadership

The Management Committee is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to the organisation and its activities.

In so doing, they must ensure that everything the organisation does supports its vision, purpose and aims. They establish and protect the fundamental values, ethical principles and policies which govern the activities of the organisation.

“The Management Committee establishes and protects the fundamental values, ethical principles and policies which govern the activities of the organisation.”

An effective Management Committee provides a clear plan for how the organisation will work towards achieving its vision and how they will ensure that these activities are resourced. The Management Committee therefore needs to constantly review the challenges and opportunities faced to enable them to anticipate and manage internal and external challenges and change.

The leadership role also requires the Management Committee to determine the policies of the organisation, whether related to internal issues or external developments which impact on their key areas of concern. The Management Committee is the ultimate decision-making forum for the organisation.

Effective leadership in groups and organisations contributes to ensuring effectiveness in organisations and in managing change. This section provides information across a range of topics which will aid the Management Committee in their leadership role.
